Volunteering in Nong Khai, Thailand
Do you want to volunteer to help students in Nong Khai, Thailand to communicate verbally in English? Their teachers do a good job teaching them to be good in reading and writing English but generally do not speak English well and the students suffer; so they need your help.
Do you want to have an authentic experience of Thai culture and family life?
You can volunteer to help students speak English in Nong Khai, which is 615 km from Bangkok on the Mekong River, as shown on the map.
The people organizing it speak English and would like to have native English speakers stay in Nong Khai to give the local students practice speaking and listening.
While the students will have English books for you to use we also have over 400 exercises you can use with the students or any adults who want to improve their ability to communicate in English.
You will be based at one of the schools in Nong Khai or a nearby village. Some schools have secondary and some have primary students. You go to Nong Khai for as long as you like but it would be preferable to stay for three months if possible. You will have tours to nearby attractions.
You could stay overlooking the Mekong River beside where I had my English Language School. When the boat races are on you get to sit and have a drink while watching the competition.
If you stay with a family the people you stay with probably won't speak English particularly well but will be trying hard and will be very friendly so the communication gap is overcome. The big attraction of staying with a family is that you will learn so much more about another life style.
