Buy English Help
The English exercises on Best Education Tours https://www.besteducationtours.com/ will not be transferred to The Family of All Life Alliance and so will no longer be available online. The four hundred or so exercises that I produced when I was teaching English as a Second Language plus the exercises including phonics that I produced for Megan in 2010 will be available for purchase. The schools in New South Wales at that time did not teach phonics and Megan needed English exercises as she had been speaking mainly Thai until then.

Volunteering in Nong Khai, Thailand
Do you want to volunteer to help students in Nong Khai, Thailand to communicate verbally in English? Their teachers do a good job teaching them to be good in reading and writing English but generally do not speak English well and the students suffer; so they need your help.
Do you want to have an authentic experience of Thai culture and family life?
You can volunteer to help students speak English in Nong Khai, which is 615 km from Bangkok on the Mekong River, as shown on the map.
The people organizing it speak English and would like to have native English speakers stay in Nong Khai to give the local students practice speaking and listening.
While the students will have English books for you to use you can also use the exercises on this website with the students or any adults who want to improve their ability to communicate in English.
You will be based at one of the schools in Nong Khai or a nearby village. Some schools have secondary and some have primary students. You go to Nong Khai for as long as you like but it would be preferable to stay for three months if possible. You will have tours to nearby attractions.
You could stay overlooking the Mekong River beside where I had my English Language School. When the boat races are on you get to sit and have a drink while watching the competition.
If you stay with a family the people you stay with probably won't speak English particularly well but will be trying hard and will be very friendly so the communication gap is overcome. The big attraction of staying with a family is that you will learn so much more about another life style.
On your visit to Thailand you will enjoy sightseeing to nearby attractions of Thailand and also to Laos which is on the other side of the Mekong River.
Some of the things you could do during your stay in Thailand are shown at this link.
One of your visits while you are in Nong Khai could be to Ban Chiang which is about 80 km east of Udon Thani.
The village of Ban Chiang is where you would see the bronze age relics at the excellent museum.
You can buy pottery of the same type that is being produced today in the village.
On the way to the village you will stop at the silk village where you can see the vast array of cloth and clothing for sale.
Another of the attractions to see is Phu Phra Bat Historical Park about 80km from Nong Khai. You can see some prehistoric man etchings of animals and human figures, the structures they used for them and their animals as well as impressive views over the surrounding countryside. The adjacent Wat is a quiet place for monks to meditate. The caves and structures were in use about 2,500 to 3,000 years ago. The dates are shown on the signs as you walk around. Each place of interest is signposted in Thai and English.
The Thailand - Laos Border
Nong Khai is on the Thai - Laos border, where the Friendship Bridge crosses the Mekong, and is 24 km from Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The location of Nong Khai, at the Gateway to Laos, means that you can have tours to both Thailand and Laos.
Meditation Centre in Nong Khai
Nong Khai has a Meditation Centre you can stay at during your time in Nong Khai if you want to.
Music from a Thai Funeral
Boat Races on the Mekong River
All along the Mekong River towns hold boat races towards the end of the year in craft holding from 36 to 54 paddlers.
To Prepare for your visit to Thailand
If you are staying for more than a month you will need a non Immigant visa from the Thai Embassy in Canberra. Your sponsor will need to supply you with an invitation letter from the school or organisation you will be helping for you to apply for the visa.
