You can of course drive to Albury and visit the Information Centre near the Railway Station for maps and brochures and comprehensive advice for the staff at the Centre. Itinerary

Day 1 Monday

Arrive in Albury on the train from Sydney at 3pm.

Take a taxi to the hotel we have booked for you.

Dinner is not included. There are MacDonald's, Hungry Jacks, KFC and a whole lot of other restaurants and eateries a short walk around town.

Overnight: Albury Hotel/Motel

Day 2 Tuesday (B,L) Beechworth –Eldorado

Drive to Beechworth with its history of Ned Kelly and gold mining.

See a cell like Ned Kelly was kept in. He was Australia's most famous bushranger.

Sit in the old courthouse where he was tried and try morse code at Beechworth Telegraph Station. At Burke Museum see Burke's pistol and a Tasmanian Tiger plus many other interesting artifacts.

Enjoy a beer and pizza for lunch at Bridge Road Brewers.

Drive to Eldorado to see the Eldorado Museum and the gold mining dredge. This town also has a history with the Ned Kelly gang.

We visit the McEvoy tavern which is renowned for being the smallest pub in Victoria. You can enjoy a beer if you are thirsty.

Return to your hotel.

Overnight Albury.

Day 3 Wednesday (B,L) Corowa - Rutherglen

Drive to Corowa to visit the Federation Museum.

Enjoy a coffee at the Chocolate Factory and peruse their products.

Continue to the wineries across the Murray River near Rutherglen and sample some wines and buy what you like.

Enjoy a delicious pie for lunch at Parker Pies.

The town has many shops for you to look at.

There are many more wineries for you to visit.

Return to your hotel.

Overnight Albury.

Day 4 Thursday (B,L) Horse ride and Army Museum

The morning is spent on a visit to a property for a horse ride.

Lunch

In the afternoon visit the Army Museum to see the largest and most diversified Military Museum in Australia. There are guns, tanks, vehicles, motor cycles, uniforms, medals and much more. This has to be booked at least a day before the visit.

Return to your hotel.

Day 5 Friday (B)

Free time to wander around the town until you take a taxi to the train station to catch the 11 am train to Sydney.

 

To do this tour

Get together with three friends and come to Albury on the train on a Monday, leaving Central Station at 8 am and arriving at Albury around 3 pm. Three days are then spent investigating attractions far different to Sydney, with horse riding, Ned Kelly history, wine making, beer making and gold mining being some of them before you board the train at around 11 am to return to Sydney. A variety of other possible tours are shown on the website with prices for a group of four.
