4 Day Tour of Albury

You can drive to Albury and visit the Information Centre near the Railway Station for maps and brochures and comprehensive advice for the staff at the Centre. You will need a hotel which you should book beforehand to get a better rate. Do not just front up to a hotel and expect a good rate. You can book on the Booking.com website.
Day 1 Monday
If you travel by train you will arrive in Albury on the train from Sydney at 3pm.
Take a taxi to the hotel.
Overnight: Albury Hotel/Motel
Day 2 Tuesday (B,L) Beechworth –Eldorado
Drive to Beechworth.
See a cell of the type Ned Kelly was kept in. He was Australia's most famous bushranger.
Sit in the old courthouse where he was tried.
Visit Burke Museum where the times of Australia's early life style are remembered.
Beechworth Telegraph Station where you can practice using morse code.
Visit the Beechworth Bakery, which is renowned for the taste of the pies it cooks.
Walk around the old fashioned streets and enjoy shopping in the country stores.
Enjoy a beer and pizza for lunch with one of their many beers at Bridge Road Brewers.
Drive to Eldorado to see the Eldorado Museum and the gold mining dredge. This town also has a history with the Ned Kelly gang.
We visit the McEvoy tavern which is renowned for being the smallest pub in Victoria. You can enjoy a beer if you are thirsty.
Return to your hotel.
Day 3 Wednesday (B,L) Corowa - Rutherglen
Drive to Corowa to visit the Federation Museum.
Walk up the main street with the numbered map and descriptions of the historic buildings to get a feel for country NSW.
Then we enjoy a coffee at the Chocolate Factory and peruse their products. Whisky is also going to be made there once the problems have been sorted out.
Continue to the wineries near Rutherglen and sample some wines.
Enjoy a hamper from Campbells Wines to go with your wine or have a delicious pie for lunch at Parker Pies.
Visit Morris Wines.
Return to your hotel.
Day 4 Thursday (B,)
Free time to wander around the town until you take a taxi to the train station to catch the 11 am train to Sydney.
To do this tour
Get together with three friends and come to Albury on the train on a Monday, leaving Central Station at 8 am and arriving at Albury around 3 pm. Two, three or four days are then spent investigating attractions far different to Sydney, with Ned Kelly history, wine making, paddlesteamers, and gold mining being some of them before you board the train at around 11 am to return to Sydney.
